Top Teams Deliver Thriller In Osoyoos

The 1st place Kamloops Storm and the 1st place Osoyoos Coyotes went to overtime for a second time in as many meetings with each other but this time the Storm used a shootout to defeat the league leading Coyotes 3-2 in a thriller in Osoyoos. Zak Anderson scored the lone goal of the shootout while Colton Phillips-Watts stopped all 3 shooters he faced as well as 29 of the 31 shots he saw thru 60 minutes plus overtime in getting the win. Kamloops had 36 shots on Coyotes Goaltender Kenneth Marquart. Osoyoos led 1-0 after one period but Ty Horner potted his 7th of the year to tie the score 1-1 after two periods. Ethan McKinley and Brendan Kirschner (his 3rd of the season) traded goals in the 3rd period to set up Andersons shootout heroics. Kamloops was 0 for 2 on the power play and 4 for 5 on the pk including a couple of key kills late in the game. Kamloops will now enjoy a week off before they play the Grizzlies in Revelstoke in another first place showdown next Friday.
