Storm Come Back Late To Win Thriller

Kuy Schmirler knows how to win games. The former member of the perennial power house Revelstoke Grizzlies brought some of that prowess to Kamloops as he scored two late third period goals as the Kamloops Storm erased a 2-1 deficit and defeated the visiting Fernie Ghostriders 3-2 in KIJHL action Friday night in Kamloops. With goalie Brenner Fyfe pulled Schmirler tied the game with 1:43 left in the third. On his next shift Schmirler then scored the winner with 27 seconds left sending the home crowd in to a frenzy. Fyfe stopped 28 of 30 shots he faced while Kamloops had 24 shots of their own. Fernie was 2 for 5 on their power play while Kamloops was 0 for 4. The Storm will next visit Merritt Saturday night 7pm.
