Storm Win Epic Game 7 in Triple OT

Coach Geoff Grimwood’s Green Goblet line came thru in spades as the Kamloops Storm defeated the Chase Heat 2-1 in triple overtime Wednesday night to win the best of seven division semi-finals in seven games. Ryan Larsen scored the biggest goal of his young career going to the net and shipping a rebound behind Heat goalie Jack Osmond for the winner at 12:46 of the third overtime sending home a crowd of over 624 tired fans. Larsen’s linemates Ty Horner and Hudson Cameron were once again tenacious and relentless causing havoc in the Heat end of the rink all night. Cameron had two assists while Cole Senum on a first period power play scored the other Storm goal. Lucas Ouellette tied the game on a late second period power play goal. Osmond was outstanding for Chase stopping 58 of 60 shots while Colton Phillips-Watts made 36 of 37 saves in getting a well-deserved win. Chase went 1 for 4 on the power play while the Storm went 1 for 3. Kamloops will now take on the Revelstoke Grizzlies in the Birks Division final starting Friday in Revelstoke.
