The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League is pleased to announce its Team of the Week for the period ending Jan.11.
Forwards
Noah Paulsen – Kamloops Storm
The Kamloops native had three goals and three assists and was +5 while helping the Storm earn a split of their two weekend games. He scored the winner in their 9-0 defeat of the Chase Heat, and had four points. During that game he hit the 20-goal mark for the first time in his KIJHL career. As a rookie he scored 18. He also had a goal and an assist in their 6-3 loss to Williams Lake.
Asher Lucas – Williams Lake Mustangs
Lucas has been a dominant offensive force for his hometown Mustangs since his return and netted three goals and six points with a +5 rating. He had a goal and three points in their 6-3 win over Kamloops, and another three point performance in their 4-1 win over Chase, scoring twice.
Aidan Hicks – Castlegar Rebels
The McLennan, Alta., native was a factor in their back-to-back wins over the Nelson Leafs. After assisting on the opening goal in their 5-1 win, Hicks netted a natural hat-trick in a 4-1 win the next game with newcomer Rylan Davis setting up two of his goals. Hicks was also +6.
Defence
Declan Pocock – Williams Lake Mustangs
Pocock earned his third Team of the Week selection by collecting two assists in wins over Kamloops and Chase. He was also strong defensively with a +4 rating playing an average of 23:58 a game.
Wyatt Olson – Kamloops Storm
The Nanton, Alta., native had four assists in two games – including a three-point performance in their 9-0 win over the Heat. He was +4 while playing an average of 19:03 a game.
Goalie
Evan Leggett – Castlegar Rebels
The Williams Lake native was solid in a pair of wins against the Nelson Leafs. On Jan. 9, he stopped 33 of 34 shots in a 5-1 win. Over the two games he stopped 50 of 52 shots for a 1.20 goals against average and a .962 save percentage.
