The Kamloops Storm opened the 2022/2023 KIJHL season with a solid 4-1 road win over the Heat in Chase Saturday night. Cole Senum on the power play scored the first Storm goal of the season as Kamloops led 1-0 after one period. Ty Horner and Jameson Rende scored second period goals before Jalen Davidsons power play marker for the Heat made the score 3-1 after two periods. Ryan Larsen added a third period marker to close out the scoring giving Kamloops the win. Larsen also added an assist while Sam Lewis added two assists. Both teams were 1 for 5 on the power play. Kamloops outshot the Heat 29-28 on the night.
