The Kamloops Storm could not overcome a slow start as well as some penalty issues in a 5-2 loss to the Merritt Centennials in Merritt Saturday night. Kamloops went down 2-0 less than 7 minutes in to the game when Brenner Fyfe replaced Dawson Groen in goal to shake off the slow start. Kamloops were able to neutralize the Cents and score a second period goal by Malcolm Anderson to enter the final period down 2-1. It was the Storm’s best period outshooting Merritt 16-8. However the Cents were able to score three unanswered goals in the third period (two on the power play) to put the game out of reach. The Storm got a late power play goal by Keegan Sanders to round out the scoring. Merritt went 2 for 5 on their power play while Kamloops went 1 for 3. Fyfe stopped 30 of the 33 shots he faced on the night while starter Groen stopped 2 of the 4 shots he faced.
