Storm Shut Out in Sicamous: Trail In KIJHL Series
SICAMOUS, BC—The Kamloops Storm gave up two power play goals in the second period and were shut out 4-0 by the hometown Sicamous Eagles in Kootenay International Junior Hockey League playoff action Monday night (Feb 26). The Eagles lead the best of seven series 2-1.
Those two second period goals came off the stick of Warren Roberts-Lee (Beaumont, AB). Roberts-Lee has two goals in the post season.
Sicamous led 1-0 after the first period on a goal from Brendan Calahasen (Cochrane, AB). Ashton Angle (Lethbridge, AB) added a short handed marker in the third period. Angle has two goals and two assists so far in the series.
Dylan Marshall (Saskatoon, SK) turned aside 27 shots for the shutout and his second win of the post season. He faced 13 Kamloops shots in the first and seven in both the second and third periods. Colton Phillips-Watts (Quesnel, BC) handled 30 shots: eight in the first, 13 in the second and nine in the final period.
Kamloops was 0-9 on the power play while the Eagles were 2-5.
The Storm played without injured defensemen Sam Lewis and Devin Benson (both Kamloops, BC). They lost rookie rearguard Sam Zulyniak (Kamloops, BC) at 11:07 of the first period after he was assessed a major penalty for hitting from behind. He will face disciplinary action from the KIJHL as a result.
The Eagles can put the Storm on the brink of elimination if they win game four of the series Tuesday (Feb 27) night at home. Puck drop is 7 PM PST. You can watch it on a pay-per-view basis on FloHockey TV.
Game five is set for Mac Isle in Kamloops on Friday, March 1 pm. Opening face off for that one is 7 PM PST.
