Storm Open Up 2024 With Victory

100 MILE HOUSE—The Kamloops Storm have opened the 2024 calendar year with a victory. The Storm opened up a three-game-in-three night Kootenay International Junior Hockey League weekend with a 4-1 victory over the host 100 Mile House Wranglers.
The Storm broke open a scoreless first period with two goals in the second and added two more in the third period. Kamloops now has a record of 21-7-0-1. The Wranglers fall to 8-19-2-2.
Nolan MacPherson (Prince George, BC) , Devin Benson (Kamloops, BC), Lochlan Stefanishyn (Pinawa, MB) and Braycen Dube (Cranbrook, BC) had the goals for Kamloops. Stefanishyn’s goal was on the power play while Benson’s was shorthanded. It was the game winning goal.
Ethan Davey (Calgary, AB) had the lone Wrangler goal. Davey now has 19 goals on the season.
Sam Lewis (Kamloops, BC) added two assists for Kamloops, who were outshot 27-24 by 100 Mile House.
Dawson Holtzki (Kelowna, BC) earned the victory in goal for the Storm. He has a record of nine wins and a loss this season. Owen Pettipas (Hay River, NWT) was in the nets for the Wranglers.
The Storm will have a much tougher opponent the next two nights. Saturday (Jan 6), they will entertain the Princeton Posse at Mac Isle. The Posse dumped Sicamous Eagles 7-4 Friday (Jan 5) night. Princeton leads the KIJHL Bill Olhausen Division with points.
On Sunday (Jan 7), the Eddie Mountain Division leading and defending KIJHL champion Kimberley Dynamiters pay a visit to Kamloops. Kimberley hammered the Chase Heat 10-2 on Friday (Jan 5) in Chase.
Puck drop on Saturday against Princeton is 7 PM. Sunday’s battle with Kimberley has a 5 PM opening faceoff at Mac Isle.
