Sanford’s Heroics Sink Eagles

Kyle Sanford scored on the power play with 6 seconds left in the game as the Kamloops Storm edged the Sicamous Eagles 2-1 in KIJHL action Friday night. The teams were scoreless thru two periods before the Eagles opened the scoring on a power play goal by Sante Canderan early in the third. Zak Anderson with his team leading 12th of the season on the power play less than two minutes later tied the game setting up Sanford’s late heroics. The Storm’s league leading power play went 2 for 3 while the Eagles went 1 for 4. Colton Phillips-Watts was outstanding in the Kamloops net stopping 30 of 31 shots. The Storm fired 34 shots at Eagles netminder Gage Reimer. Kamloops will now head to Revelstoke for a first place tilt with the Grizzlies Saturday.
