Storm Win Thriller For Pete In Opener

The Kamloops Storm opened the 2023/2024 season honouring and remembering long time trainer and Storm mainstay Pete Friedel. Pete returned the favour by watching from above and telling Teghan Mullin that it was his turn to score his first ever KIJHL goal. The goal broke a 1-1 tie with 5.6 seconds left in the game and sent 450 fans home happy with a season opening win. Lochlan Stefanishyn opened the Storm's season scoring in the first period before Luke Chakrabarti tied the game in the second period setting up Mullin's late game heroics. Both teams were scoreless on the power play and Kamloops had a 29-28 edge in shots on goal with Colton Phillips-Watts getting the win in net.
