Young Guns: Brenner Fyfe

Kamloops Storm goalie Brenner Fyfe is this week’s Young Guns selection after he stopped 73 of 76 shots against the Quesnel River Rush.

“I thought he was great, he was very steady, especially early in Game 2,” said Storm head coach Andrew Fisher. “Quesnel really came with a big push early and Brenner allowed us to find our footing and get going.”

In Games 1 and 2 of their series, Fyfe played 120 minutes and posted a 1.50 goals against average with a .961 save percentage. Fisher said there were moments throughout the first two games and series where things would have been a lot worse.

“I thought our first period in Game 2 wasn’t very good. We were very lucky to be out 2-0 and Brenner’s play had a lot to do with that.”

Fyfe helped the Storm sweep the River Rush in the opening round of the KIJHL Teck Cup playoffs as he went 4-0 with a 1.89 GAA and a .954 SP. It’s Fyfe’s second Young Guns selection this season.
